Ninth State Dance Instructors

Ninth State's Professional Instructors have over 100 years of experience along with numerous degrees, certifications and professional experience in dance, movement, and professional instruction.

Carole Ann E. Morrison – Owner & Director

Carole received her formative ballet training in the Vaganova method under the direction of Robin Deet, former director of The New School of Ballet in Schenectady, NY and Leanne Sweet current faculty at The Saratoga City Ballet. As a youth she studied (and a few times performed) with members of the New York City Ballet during their annual summer stay at their “2nd home”, the Saratoga Performing Arts Center. She went on to receive her MFA in Choreography and Performance from the State University of New York at Brockport, with an emphasis in modern and ballet.  She taught for 6 years at Plymouth State University in the Music, Theatre and Dance department and created and developed the Dance Pedagogy and Ballet program at PSU.  In 2003 she completed the 6-year Vaganova syllabus certification conducted by John White of Pennsylvania Ballet Society. She is a certified Zumba & Zumba Gold Instructor. In 1999 Carole founded the Ninth State Movement Complex (formerly Ballet Plymouth & BP studios). Carole also served as Executive Director of Friends of the Arts, a 34-year-old non-profit organization, which provides affordable art education programs throughout Central NH.

Anna-Marie Klucevsek -   Tap, Hip Hop

Anna-marie Klucevsek has studied Tap, Hip Hop, Ballet, Pointe, Lyrical, and Jazz at such schools as Broadway Dance Center and Steps on Broadway in NYC.  She has performed in “Oklahoma”, “Crazy For You”, “Beantown Tap Festival Showcase”, “Tap Kids Showcase”, and "Clara's Dream, A Jazz Nutcracker" and the Tap for Smiles Tour. She is currently a member of New England Tap Ensemble. She has attended and participated in numerous festivals and workshops throughout the country on an annual basis including Dance Educators of America (DEA) National Competition Workshop , Academy of American Dance Intensive for advanced tap, and most recently the 2009 Totally Tap Intensive in North Carolina.  Over the past four years, Annamarie (or “Annie”) has been teaching at Baker School of Dance and Dance Starz Academy in MA.

Carrie Long - Ballet

Carrie Long began her dance and movement journey at the young age of three. She built an early dance foundation in tap, jazz, ballet, and lyrical so that at the age of 7 Carrie auditioned for and was accepted into The Wolcott Children’s Ballet Academy, directed by Kennet Oberley.  During her time with the company Carrie studied classical Vaganova Ballet technique and spent the majority of her youth with the company performing throughout New England.  In high school she auditioned for the North Country Dance Company and was accepted into the Company as a freshman. She spent four years performing, touring, and teaching dance workshops with the company until she graduated in 2003. During this time she also attended many dance intensives at the famous “Steps on Broadway”  in NYC, studying with dance masters such as Frank Hatchett, and Mia Michaels.  Carrie attended Plymouth State University on a dance scholarship, where she studied modern, ballet, and jazz. During her college years she danced with professionals such as the Amy Marshall Dance Company, Ni-Nee Cheen Company, Pilobolus, and Battleworks Dance Company. She graduated Plymouth State University magna cum laude in 2007 with a degree in Early Childhood Studies and has spent the past three years teaching, working, playing , and dancing with young children!

Lisa Travis - Modern

Lisa Travis currently serves on the faculty of the department of Music, Theater and Dance at Plymouth State University. She is the former Director of Dance at New Hampton School.  Lisa has been teaching and choreographing for the past 25 years after studying dance at the Boston Conservatory of Music. Lisa has performed with modern dance companies in California, Rhode Island, Massachusetts and New Hampshire. She is founder and artistic director of Terminal Hip Dance Theater. Lisa has choreographed musicals for private and public high schools in NH, PSU Department of Theater and most recently guest choreographer for the Vietnamese National Opera and Ballet.

Samantha Hoffman Brode – Beginner Tap & Jazz

Dance and performing arts have been apart of Sam’s life for 20 plus years. She primarily trained at Emily's Dance Studio under the watchful eye of Emily (her mother) and Expressions in Dance in Massachusetts. In addition she has studied dance at UNH and the University Sainte Anne.  Sam is versatile in many forms of  dance: tap, jazz, ballet, contemporary, theater, and ballroom and has instructed classes for multitude of levels and ages.  .  

Christian Jakubowski - Boxing Coach & Ballroom

Christian has been boxing and coaching boxing for more than 15 years. He was the winner of the Middle Weight Golden Gloves in Detroit, MI as well as the Motor City Diamond Gloves and Wild Card Games. A graduate of the University of Michigan, he served as President of the U of M Boxing Club for three years. He has also trained and coached at Uncle Sam's Boxing Gym in Troy, NY and the Santa Clara PAL Boxing Gym in Santa Clara, CA. He is USA Boxing certified to coach boxing and operate a gym. coming shortly. Chris has taught ballroom for over 15 years. He originally trained in San Jose, CA as an Arthur Murray Instructor.
